AudioSync

Support

Help with AudioSync on your Mac and AudioSync Remote on your iPhone.

What they are

AudioSync is a free Mac app that plays your Mac's sound through up to eight speakers at once and keeps them in time. It works with wired and Bluetooth outputs, and with AirPlay and Google Cast speakers on your network. Each speaker has its own delay, volume and mute.

AudioSync Remote is its iPhone companion. Change volumes and delays from your seat, control what your Mac is playing, and time your speakers with the iPhone's microphone. It needs AudioSync running on a Mac.

What you need

  • A Mac with Apple silicon on macOS 14 or later, running the latest AudioSync.
  • An iPhone on iOS 26 or later, on the same Wi-Fi as the Mac.
  • No account and nothing to buy. Both apps are free.
Download for MacFree, macOS 14 and later

Pair your iPhone

  1. Open AudioSync on your Mac.
  2. Join the same Wi-Fi on your iPhone and open AudioSync Remote.
  3. When asked, allow Local Network access. Remote needs it to find your Mac.
  4. Tap your Mac in the list.
  5. Your Mac shows a four-digit code. Type it on your iPhone.

That is it. Your iPhone reconnects on its own after that. To unpair, open your Mac's page in Remote and tap Forget this Mac. You can also do it on the Mac: open Settings in AudioSync, choose iPhone and click Remove next to the phone.

Questions

My iPhone can't find my Mac.

Check that AudioSync is open on the Mac and that both are on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network. Then make sure Local Network access is on: on the iPhone, go to Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network and turn on AudioSync. On a Mac with macOS 15 or later, check the same list in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network.

My iPhone asks for the code again.

Pairing changed in September 2026, so an iPhone paired before then types the code once more. Keep AudioSync and AudioSync Remote up to date. A Mac also forgets an iPhone that has not connected for 90 days.

Pairing says too many wrong codes.

After five wrong codes, your Mac stops pairing new iPhones for a while, and the wait grows each time it happens again. Phones that are already paired still connect. When the wait is over, your Mac shows a new code.

An AirPlay speaker connects but stays silent.

Update AudioSync to the latest version (AudioSync, Check for Updates). It fixes AirPlay to Macs on macOS 27, which accepted the stream but played nothing.

How do I update AudioSync?

AudioSync checks for updates once a day and offers to install them. To check now, open Settings in AudioSync, choose About and click Check for Updates. You can also download the latest version here. AudioSync Remote updates through the App Store.

Does Remote record what it hears?

No. The microphone only listens for test chirps while you time your speakers, and the sound never leaves your iPhone. See the privacy policy.
